  • Enid Cokinos: Cocktails

When Wicked Witch, Cinderella, and Little Red attend Big Bad Wolf’s cocktail party, they aren’t sure what to expect and whether they should trust him (just look at his track record). The poor old wolf wants to be normal and entertain in customary fashion. Sadly, he misses the mark. Debra Cole’s hilarious take on a few storybook favorites was a delight to read and will be a hit in any festival.

Think of it as a twist with a (very funny) twist. The prince-and-shoe joke alone is worth the read. Funny, dark, and quick. Really enjoyed it!

Cocktails by Debra A. Cole runs with the brilliant premise of the Big Bad Wolf hosting a proper cocktail party for Cinderella, Little Red, and the Wicked Witch, and the dark comedy lands fast. These fairy-tale icons hilariously unpack adulthood, loneliness, and “happily-ever-after regret” before everything spirals. The reveal (I won't spoil it!)is the perfect mix of absurd and unsettling. So funny!

10.26.24 - Okay THAT made me laugh out loud. A comedy of manners when the host isn't a man, and doesn't quite get what hosting a cocktail party is all about. Deb Cole gives us a fun take on all these fairytale characters and I'm glad to see that at least one of the ladies is willing to look beyond her glass slipper and and take a bite out of real life.

    Ha!
For once I feel sorry for the Big Bad Wolf, here he tries to make amends for all his misdemeanors by inviting fellow fairytale characters round for a cocktail party. Innocent enough, surely?
But what follows is a hilarious misunderstanding.
Cole has added some really funny quotes and lines here, which will make it a wonderful show to watch. Love it!
