  • Tom Erb: The Melatonin Miners

"The Melatonin Miners" is a whimsical, thought-provoking play, Steve's ordinary bedroom becomes a portal to the past. As he drifts into melatonin-induced dreams, he encounters historical luminaries. Their witty exchanges blend humor with poignant reflections on time, identity, and the human condition. The play's clever premise and well-crafted dialogue make it a delightful exploration of reality, fantasy, and the enduring impact of history. A unique blend of comic timing and introspection.

In life, Beethoven, Carl Reiner and W.C. Fields gave the world so much joy. In death — or at least in Philip Middleton Williams' hilarious short play — they continue to do so. I loved his take on "A Christmas Carol," though the three spirits aren't there to teach Steve morality; they're just visiting to have a good time.
It may not work for Steve, but it works for us, the audience.
I would love to see this in a night of holiday shorts. Bravo!

  • Paul Donnelly: The Melatonin Miners

Ludwig Van Beethoven, Carl Reiner and W.C. Fields walk into a bar ... well actually they materialize in a bedroom and the hilarity level exceeds anything that popular set up might suggest. This is an original and laugh-out-loud funny reflection on creativity and humor and the price of taking the wrong little pill.

  • John Busser: The Melatonin Miners

I'm sure we'd find it much easier to blame this play on an overindulgence on the very melatonin gummies Philip Middleton Williams talks about in this play, but he's a far better writer than that. I had the pleasure to take part on a reading of this hysterical play about sleep, artistic creation and how our muses can come from some unexpected bottles-- I mean, places. I had a blast reading this, and I bet an audience would have an even better time watching it.

If you don't crack a smile while reading this play, it'll take more than spirits to save you. This short delight is at once an homage to artistic powerhouses of ages past, as well as a subtle and pitch-perfect musing on art's very creation. Sometimes drugs help? Shouldn't say that, probably. I don't know. Everything in moderation. Otherwise you wind up with really interesting combinations invading your dreams. The actors and costumers here will have loads of merriment, which means an audience will too.

Mistakes were made and a wacky dream sequence ensues. Philip Middleton Williams charms the audience in this short comedy that features Ludwig van Beethoven, W.C. Fields, and Carl Reiner as characters.

What if Ebenezer Scrooge had access to a jar of Melatonin gummies? It might not have turned out quite like Philip Middleton Williams’ “The Melatonin Miners” but that’s only a testament to Williams’ genius and ingenuity. There is a specificity and wit to this plays elements that are truly inimitable, and a joy to read. Bravo, playwright!

  • Nora Louise Syran: The Melatonin Miners

Has Williams plied his protagonist with a bit too much "geistiges Getränk"--Schnaps? Spirits!? (Three to be exact!) Read this for yourself if you're in the mood for A CHRISTMAS CAROL with a twist...of melatonin. Fun!

A delightful holiday can't-sleep-at-sleepytime confection with great celebrity cameos thanks to every insomniac's friend melatonin! It's as though something asked Steve's brain the "what three people dead or alive would you want to have dinner with" and his brain came up with a great answer! You'll fall back to sleep with a big silly grin.
