An absolutely lovely and charming play about tradition, culture, languages, the fun of linguistics, the sheer unholy wrath of nature (only sort of joking about the last part). Syran doesn't provide an explicit setting for this couple (so having recently visited Québec, I'm pretending it's there), but it makes the themes of meshing traditions to create new ones all the more potent. A delightful scene in every way.

Nora Louise Syran beautifully creates an atmosphere filled with international romance, language, and holiday joy. You'll want a sip of eggnog and a cuddle while reading "That Wasn't Mistletoe."

I love this short play about Christmas culture shock as a couple - one French, one American - prepare to celebrate Christmas together and are perplexed by each other's strange customs. It's sweet, funny, and I even learned some things about how the French do Christmas and New Year! Merveilleux!

This is a delightful, symmetrical little play about what happens when cultures clash at Christmastime—and how new, precious holiday traditions are born! It's a quick, laugh-out-loud piece that would be a blast for American OR French audiences...maybe ideal for Canadians? Ha! The versatility in the casting makes it an easily staged, open-ended option for some festive levity in any wintertime program!
