  • Aly Kantor: Finding Mickey Mantle

This is a taut, naturalistic, and ultimately heartwarming family drama that is seamlessly plotted, with stakes that grow and grow as the play goes on, leaving audiences wondering what they would do in the protagonist's position. The cast of characters is incredibly specific and rich with shared history, showing their colors without ever falling into stereotypes. The ending evokes a more grounded and contemporary take on "The Curious Savage" with a one-two punch of a twist that will leave audiences talking. I am particularly fond of some stage pictures, which say so much without words. A new...

  • Tom Erb: Finding Mickey Mantle

"Finding Mickey Mantle" is an exploration of grief and family dynamics. Set in a cluttered hoarder's home, the play navigates the turbulent emotions following a loved one's death. The characters are richly drawn, each coping in their own way, while the ghostly presence of Logan adds a melancholic layer. The dialogue is sharp, the setting evocative, and the theme of finding hope amidst loss is powerfully rendered. Wendy Vogel's work is a touching reminder of the complexities of mourning and the resilience needed to move forward. A compelling piece that resonates with authenticity and emotional...

  • Mike Byham: Finding Mickey Mantle

A sweet tale wrought with family drama caused by greed, FINDING MICKEY MANTLE recognizes the value of choosing family and illuminate the overwhelming power of kindness. Logan's haunting presence is powerfully felt and seen throughout via flashback and as a ghost. Marie's poignant letters will break your heart - also providing actors audition-worthy monologues. Nan's little surprises at the end are sure to bring a smile to reader and audience alike. Wendy Vogel has crafted a winning play that deserves to be staged. Bravo!

  • Morey Norkin: Finding Mickey Mantle

I love everything about this play! The structure that seamlessly moves between past and present. The fully drawn characters and their motivations that result in believable conflict. And that it’s just a great story perfectly told. I have a feeling we’re going to be hearing a lot about this play in the not too distant future. Outstanding!

  • Brent Alles: Finding Mickey Mantle

This is a great play! The characters are well drawn, the dialogue is sharp and effective, and the plot is engaging. The motivations make sense and often times have you rooting for certain characters and gnashing your teeth at the actions of others. There's an impactful ending of Act I and then the overall ending may make you gasp but ultimately makes sense as well. There are funny, moving, touching, sobering, and saddening scenes throughout. Everything is very well balanced. This is an excellent examination of grief, family, and life itself. This play indeed hits a home run.

  • Ryan Vaughan: Finding Mickey Mantle

This piece tells a story of connection. Vogel writes in such a way that your heart aches for the things that hurt the protagonist and you can't do anything but cheer them on. That alongside with a twist that I honestly think would have audiences gasping, this piece is a wonderful story and one that needs to be told.

  • Vidalia Unwin: Finding Mickey Mantle

This is one of the sweetest plays I’ve come across in a long time. It feels like wrapping yourself in a warm blanket.
In a story where everything could turn catastrophically dark at any moment, it’s such a delight to come across something that doesn’t do that, and to the best consequences.
The characters are lively and immediately identifiable, instantly relatable. Their bonds make this piece and drive it to the most joyous of places.
This is a feel-good play for those all-too-frequent moments when you might need one.

I love this play!!!!! This play truly gives all the characters especially Marie fully formed character arcs and Marie is one of the best roles written for a female in years!!!! I would love to see this play fully produced. I would even like to direct this play someday!
