I've had the pleasure of seeing Tom's work in L.A. He's a great writer and stalwart of the scene here. I loved this play about faith and forgiveness, fathers and sons, and the complicated relationship that many sects of Christianity have with the LGBTQ+ community. I love the way the play moves briskly through time. Landry is a fantastic character. As he navigates his father's death, he navigates his own faith and whether or not he has a community he can believe in. The themes are numerous and resonate, and there is an audience participation moment that is hilarious.

I love this play. The journey that Landry goes on as he navigates an uneasy congregation, while tending to his dying father who despises the choices he’s made for his life, is subtly and beautifully wrought by Tom Jacobson. The play is so funny, moving and engaging. I never wanted it to end. I came away feeling that I’d joyfully attend Landry’s services every Sunday. And this is coming from a deeply committed atheist. Captain of the Bible Quiz Team does exactly what all great theatre should do – connect everyone in the room to our shared humanity.
