Autistic Doula- MONOLOGUE

by H. Avery

As a result of medical ableism, autism in adults is chronically under diagnosed. Thankfully, the autistic doula is armed with resources for the people who the system may have failed.

Autistic Doula- MONOLOGUE

Such a true piece! As a late diagnosed autistic person (at almost 56) I love this monologue! So timely and important. Well, late actually, but finally! And it's full of heart which is what we all need. Heart and kindness. And the reality that chances are you too may be autistic - read it and see. Self-diagnosis is acceptable these days because everyone knows now that the doctors don't really know. And Avery's monologue will help. Autistics unite!

In AUTISTIC DOULA, H. Avery shines brilliant light on ableism, disability, and autism in the medical world and beyond. This is a monologue that has a unique power to both entertain and inform with an infusion of theatricality that's meant for the stage.

A poignant and powerful indictment of the ableism that permeates the medical community. It is a shame that the Doula's advocacy is so necessary. This monologue should be a required element of medical training!
