10/21/24: Beer Culture by James Kelsey Nelson is a 'spit-out-your-drink' hilarious play in more ways than one. The absurd extent to which it lampoons beer snobbery will have readers and audiences roaring with laughter. Staging this play in an actual pub is an inspired choice and would make for an uproarious evening at the bar/theatre. Excellent!

There’s so much fun to be had in this takedown of beer snobs. Some sure-fire laugh lines and a hilariously over-the-top ending make this one a heavy contender for anyone planning a night of one-acts in a drinking establishment.

09.22.24 - HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! I knew it! That was the most inevitable, yet supremely appropriate takedown of beer snobs I've ever seen. The pretentious descriptions of their tastings alone ("The cardamom and clove are fucking each other in my mouth, and creating a white pepper lovechild.") had me wanting to pee in their glasses. Considering how funny this was, I had to pee anyhow. You go Billy, you magnificent Stella-drinking bastard.

"Beer Culture" is one of the funniest scripts I've read.

This laugh-out-loud comedy would be sensational in an immersive environment. James Kelsey Nelson tears apart pretentious people doing horrible things. The dialogue is hilarious with the ridiculous descriptions of the beers and the characters' insults aimed at one another. And the climactic action and button are so satisfying. I'd love to see "Beer Culture" in performance. While drinking a water.

Whether you don't drink at all (like me) or have your advanced cicerone certification, this should make you giggle. Nelson knows the culture he's teasing, which makes it doubly satisfying.
