The stars have always been a mystery to us. Legends tell us that they guide our fate, grant us wishes, predict the future, and even if the nearest one is light-years away, they are as close to us as the touch of a hand or the arms of a loved one. In this exchange between two people as shown at the Midwest Dramatists Conference, we are with them in their journey. A lovely and haunting play. (10/5/24)

I saw this as a staged reading at the Midwest Dramatists Conference and loved the dynamic between the two women. The release that Lorelei felt against the backdrop of a starry sky was set beautifully and so relatable. I wished it could have gone on! Loved this.

9/30/24: Geminids caught me by total surprise at the Midwest Dramatists Conference this year, and it gives me confidence that Andra Hunter is a playwright to watch. Meditating on wishes and desires with a gorgeous meteor shower backdrop, this short play moved me to (sad, then happy, then happy-sad) tears with its poignant and thoughtful drama. Do yourself a favor and read this play!

I love a play set during a meteor shower, especially when a human sacrifice is involved!
It's not really a spoiler to say that the human sacrifice was wishful thinking on my part (esp since no one else at the Midwest Dramatists Conference jumped to that conclusion). Le sigh. Instead of ritual decapitation, we get an intimately detailed, heartfelt exchange between two women connecting under a sky shimmering with falling stars. And I suppose that's okay too.

Seriously, this is a lovely play.

What an absolutely poetic interaction between two women who have lived real lives. ANDRA HUNTER has a true gift for magic.
