Oh, if only we could find out what life will be like in the future and assure our past selves. Haz Cady presented a smart and tender tale about just that at the Midwest Dramatists Conference, and it didn't hold back on both the good and the bad. This is not a story of wishful thinking or fear but of hope tinged with the reality that no matter what life brings us, we can learn and grow and become. (10/5/24)

I saw this piece as a staged reading at the Midwest Dramatists Conference and was moved by its educational, gender-affirming qualities. It was a beautiful example of how to talk to teens about gender and transitioning and I loved the dynamic between the character's younger and older selves. Really great idea.

The Log is a fun, heartfelt romp that explores the trans experience through the eyes of a young person meeting their future self. Fans of sci-fi like Doctor Who will love this play. It’s also one of those rare plays that manages to educate audiences in subtle ways as it never fails to entertain!
