I had the great privilege of producing this play as an audio piece for Theatrical Shenanigans and, as a creative this spoke to my soul! Debra has taken the advancement (or is that intrusion) of AI and framed a wonderful scenario, even though you can't help but feel for the playwright who falls pray to the words of a reviewer...or do they? As with many of Debs plays this piece is loaded with fabulous dialogue and can't fail in making you smile at certain times.

HA! I did not see the plot twist coming, but I absolutely loved it! Grounded in our very real present conversations about AI, armchAIr critic is about how AI is being used against artists in late stage capitalism, and why. I think all playwrights can relate to Emily, the main character, and I love the supporting character of Christopher as well. Well done!

A writer's dreams exist in a fragile state of mind to begin with, and if, like Emily, we are fortunate enough to have anything produced where there might be a review, I feel we would all need to hope that our super power is a tough skin when the reviews come out. They say A.I. will take over everything about our current lives and leave us all useless unwanted and that just may be, but until then, I hope that we have plays as funny and dare I say terrifying as "armchAIr critic" by Debra A. Cole to read
