Kelly is rich; Carly is not. Carly's mom is making lasagna, beef stroganoff, sloppy joes, potato salad, green bean casserole, actually never mind she's on a diet—Wait, what? Kelly's mom didn't hear what you just said.

I love this play. I love this theatrical event. I love this piece. A text about class, mothers & daughters, friendship, and how horribly big and isolating the West Coast feels sometimes. I was lucky enough to witness two readings of this play at the O'Neill National Playwrights Conference and each time I found something new and exciting in the plays intentional repetitions of "scenes" or "episodes". I can't wait to see where this play goes. Dana is constantly elevating what theatre's doing.

  • Premiere Stages at Kean University: Episodes

Premiere Stages, the professional Equity theatre in residence at Kean University, is pleased to recognize Episodes by Kallan Dana as a Semi-Finalist for the 2026 Premiere Play Festival. Episodes rose through a competitive process to become one of 65 Semi-Finalists out of 894 submissions. Our panel was impressed by the success of the episodic form; the piece is an authentic, compelling exploration of cycles, girlhood, and a nature vs nurture argument. Our congratulations and thanks to Kallan.
