Recommendations of Souvenirs - One Act Play

  • Rachel Feeny-Williams: Souvenirs - One Act Play

I had the privilege of editing this piece as an audio play for Theatrical Shenanigans and it was a play that kept on giving. Taking the sinister journey of discovery with these three characters was great fun and the story literally gave me Goosebumps. Its a wonderful example of what can be produced on stage in the world of thriller/horror and would have audiences on the edge of their seats as well as giving three performers the gift of wonderfully deep and complex characters.

I was completely captivated by Souvenirs—its eerie tension, sharp dialogue, and layered characters had me on edge from start to finish. The stormy log cabin setting brilliantly mirrors the psychological storm brewing within Alfred. The chilling twists unfold with perfect pacing, making each revelation more disturbing than the last. As a fan of suspenseful drama, I found this play both haunting and masterfully crafted.

A clever, suspenseful piece that utilizes dramatic irony to great effect. Reminiscent of an EC Comics story. A terrifically twisted tale!

Like the best crime fiction from the great pulps of the 1930's & 1940's, Ryan Kaminski's "Souvenirs" gave me a perverse thrill from beginning to end. John D. MacDonald, Richard Stark and - yes - the esteemed Cornel Woolrich would definitely approve and recommend. All that's missing is a live production!

Great little mystery/horror piece here. Great twists, some gruesomeness here and there, and a fast pace that definitely keeps you interested and on the edge of your seat. This would definitely be great to see staged (for those who have a strong stomach, I suppose) or even adapted in audio form. Definitely scratched my horror play itch for tonight's reading, I can tell you that.
