Recommendations of Mr. Darcy, I'm waiting (A monologue for women)

  • James Binz: Mr. Darcy, I'm waiting (A monologue for women)

A nice monologue piece for an actress to chew on. The dialogue is well written and flows naturally and well. The story line is good and the character fights to hold true to herself and her story. Lovely, but very short, monologue.

  • Ryan Vaughan: Mr. Darcy, I'm waiting (A monologue for women)

Short and to the powerful point. Divorce is something that has many different emotional layers (especially when kids are involved) and Friedman highlights many of them beautifully, powerfully, and heartbreakingly in a short amount of time. This would be a strong audition piece for any actress.

  • John Busser: Mr. Darcy, I'm waiting (A monologue for women)

We're all just trying to get through our experiences sometimes, aren't we? And divorce is one of the worst. Darrin Friedman shows us this with Nancy, a woman blindsided and discarded by her ex-partner. This monologue lays it all out, the frustration, the recrimination, the regret, the shame, it's all there. In one short monologue, we learn so much about Nancy and ourselves. After all, who hasn't been rejected by someone we cared about at one point or another? A terrific monologue for any actress.

  • Agnes Palfi: Mr. Darcy, I'm waiting (A monologue for women)

I was really looking forward to the connection with Pride and Prejudice, and the author captured it perfectly. This short monologue shows a woman at a low point in her life, trying to push through and find that turning point that made Jane Austen's novel so famous and compelling.

Even if you haven't been through exactly what Nancy has been through, her emotions are accessible and relatable to us all. This feels like Nancy's rock bottom, but we can picture future scenes where Nancy DOES find her Darcy. After all she's been through and does to protect her daughter from the truth of the situation, despite how it makes Nancy looks to her, Nancy deserves her happy ending. I believe she will get it, too.

  • Philip Middleton Williams: Mr. Darcy, I'm waiting (A monologue for women)

I loved the balance of hope and desperation, taken together that give Nancy the courage tempered by the uncertainty so many of us can understand, to take the first tentative steps out of her self-imposed exile. I wanted to say "you've got this," and cheer her on. Darrin J. Friedman has a fine ear for what she's going through, and I would love to see this performed.
