I saw a reading of this excellent play at the Valdez Theater Conference and was so entertained and moved by it. These young characters are authentic and dimensional as this lovely work continues a tradition of plays like The Wolves and Dance Nation that give voice to young females. This particular play finds its uniqueness in the age of its lead characters (9 and 10 years old) and their time not only in Girl Scouts, but in the wilderness, becoming a parable and also a theatrical playground.

Saw a reading at the Valdez Theatre Conference and can only describe that play as incredibly joyful! A delightful romp that tackled big questions of womanhood, feminism, and friendship all with hilarious dialogue and delightful staging. It would be a joy to work on in any capacity, and I can't wait to see it produced someday.

What is womanhood? When does it begin? Will you be ready? When do girls lose their empowerment? How do they find it? "Scouts" is hilariously feral, hilariously honest, and bitingly cruel. The roller coaster these 3 Girl Scouts go on makes you realize the world might be better if it were run by little girls and their clear vision of the future.

This play is an adorable, relatable treat! It's perfect for girls in transition but would be an equally fantastic, nostalgic treat for women who are still grappling with accepting their own bodies (and the treatment of those bodies)—a necessary and important narrative in Post-Roe America. On top of all that, it's a hoot! With moments of stunning character growth, physical comedy (and stage combat!), and awesome opportunities for designers, it would be as fun to produce as it was to read!
