Set in 2010, A Texas Jesus Abortion Play follows two best friends as they navigate their final year of high school in a small Texas town. Life is pretty normal here - the teachers are creepy, boys are gross, and Glee is the best thing on television. But when Adah finds out she is pregnant, the news turns their world upside down. Not to mention, Jesus Christ might be haunting her. Will Adah get the abortion she desperately wants? Will the two make it to homecoming with their friendship intact? A Texas Jesus Abortion Play is a story of friendship, resilience, and the true spirit of Jesus Christ. Oh, and Glee.

I had the privilege of working as a dramaturg on this play for the 2026 Mid-American Theater Conference, where it was presented as a staged reading as part of the Playwriting Symposium's "First Acts" program. This play is - all at once - theatrically challenging in all the best ways, hilarious, moving, and deeply authentic. It puts characters and situations on stage that we need to see and in ways that are powerful and surprising and subversively fun. An EXCELLENT play for brave theater-makers.
