[12/8/24] Sam Heyman managed to explore one of the biggest issues I never realized I had with Frosty the Snowman in FAHRENHEIT HO HO HO in a deliciously hilarious, existentially absurd holiday comedy. I loved experiencing an otherwise jolly Santa Claus dropping an F bomb and a lifeless husk of Ray Bradbury coming to life "Happy Birthday!" style, and Mrs. Claus having offstage comments on what Santa should and shouldn't do with his powers. Great fun!

I’ll say this much, I would have gotten much better grades if Santa had brought ME deceased authors to assist with book reports on their work. Heyman’s short play is a delightful and wholesome tip of the hat (with so much flavor for the nerds) to not just Bradbury, but the importance of stories. All kinds of them. Come for the hilarious premise, but stay till the final chapter, because it’s great.

My favorite depiction of Santa anywhere, ever, for all time. This short play is such a pure delight. So funny (and dark!) and also with a little moral to take away in the end. This would absolutely be the play that stuck with me on my way home after a night of shorts.

Meet the utterly absurd, darkly hilarious, literature-themed Christmas special that absolutely none of us knew we needed! When a well-meaning, necromantically-inclined Santa pulls a reanimated literary luminary out of his big red bag, one teenager is left to deal with the consequences... in what is inexplicably an illuminating and heartwarming tale about finding value in older media. Is it bonkers? Yes. Did it make me laugh like a maniac? Also yes! A holiday treat for discerning audiences!

Combine Santa Claus, author Ray Bradbury and a middle-schooler stuck with writing a book report on Bradbury's FAHRENHEIT 451 and you get Heyman's wonderfully irreverent, funny and very timely Christmas play about literature and society. Well done!

Wow! This play was really funny but also really heartwarming and shows the true meaning of Christmas! I enjoyed how Caleb helped Ray Bradbury get his memory back simply just by being honest and describing the book in bleak detail, and how Santa drops the F bomb! Lol! This is a fun play for the holidays indeed! Bravo Sam!

11.26.24 - What a fun little stocking stuffer that was! Sam Heyman never fails to deliver an interesting take on his targets, and he certainly hit the funny bone with this one. I love me some Santa doing his own particular version of being naughty, raising up one of the literary world's finest dead guys, even if it was for a good cause. I liked that Caleb was starting to school Bradbury on his own book, showing he HAD gotten something for his report. A fun one for the holidays.

This play is so smart and savage. I too, often feel like an empty soul in an author shaped vessel! So funny and yet I feel my soul learned something!

Sam Heyman not only has taken on a wacky surprise Secret Santa Title but signed himself up for a holiday bake-off of his own wonderfully crazy and imaginative Santa Sack time and space bending making! One more thing to say: Language!

When you combine one of the greatest writers of science fiction with the magic of Santa Claus and wishing for a way out of a homework assignment, very strange things can happen. The vivid and irreverent imagination of Sam Heyman is on full holiday display in this funny and even a touch macabre short play that teaches Caleb his lesson in reading and a bit too much about magical thinking. And maybe Santa's had a bit too much dandelion wine... Perfect for your next holiday play festival.
