[12/8/24] I'm deeply concerned that Jacquie Floyd-Priskorn has written something we could realistically see happen in the not-so-distant future! Jokes aside, The Baked Alaska Incident is a wonderfully absurd ten-plus minute comedy that escalates what happens when a tech "trillionaire" is denied getting what he wants, and who ultimately will pay for it.

The best way to influence is to engage in a manner that entertains. There is no better way to do this than through humor. Jacquie Floyd-Priskorn nails the concept with the satirical short THE BAKED ALASKA INCIDENT. I laughed, was shocked, ruminated, grew concerned, then laughed some more. Great concept, characters and dialogue. Thoroughly enjoyable. I would love to see this one staged.

Well, Floyd-Priskorn gets all the points with one of the most hilarious one-two punches of comedy and consequences I’ve encountered in a while. I didn’t see this coming. And when it came, I had to stop quite a bit in order to be able to breathe again. This play will leave you cackling. And when that’s gone, what remains is a worthy moral to act on. Eat the rich. They probably taste better than baked Alaska.

A PERFECT contender for the Last Frontier Theater Conference, I'm thinking.
Floyd-Priskorn ALMOST has as much fun as the audience - and the performers perhaps most of all! - with this madcap farce (there's a character named Ox Longacre!) Here she satirizes morning talk shows, douchey trillionaires and baking shows ... a perfect dessert confection, served as a flambé.
This makes me want to come up with zillions of play titles for Jacquie and see what she does with them.

  • Aly Kantor: The Baked Alaska Incident

The city of Anchorage may not make out so well in this madcap, surprisingly prescient comedic charmer, but it's a real treat for audiences, who will be rolling in the aisles as they're hit with this brilliantly over-the-top morning show! It's packed with larger-than-life characters who are just trying to do their jobs amidst a backdrop of billionaire-created chaos... which is, frankly, relatable! And it's full of surprises! You never know what silliness is on the horizon! A delectable delight!

  • Lisa Dellagiarino Feriend: The Baked Alaska Incident

A billionaire trying to buy Alaska, setting terrible events in motion, and TV journalists acting like nothing strange is happening shouldn't feel like the real world, but here we are! I love this comedic take on the tragedy of our current state of affairs - and the best part is it would work equally well on stage or on a podcast!

  • Morey Norkin: The Baked Alaska Incident

In this brilliant satire, Jacquie Priskorn takes aim at morning TV infotainment and the increasing influence billionaires, trillionaires, and gazillionaires are having on our lives. Some serious stuff, yes, but you’ll be laughing from start to finish. Wacky characters and a wacky, if not evil, scheme involving the city of Anchorage. An absolute gem.

  • Ken Love: The Baked Alaska Incident

Screwball comedy or farce, you'll not only get the joke, but if you've felt the pulse of our contemporary socio/political dilemma, laughter isn't all that will be expressed: you'll feel a slight tinge of dark foreboding. Jacquelyn Floyd-Priskorn has given us not just a wonderfully written short play, but a commentary for our time. Kudos!

  • Christopher Soucy: The Baked Alaska Incident

Hilarious skewering of morning infotainment news programming and the spoiled excesses of the obscenely wealthy, this play has it all! Even a tasty dessert. Jacquelyn Floyd-Priskorn applies her devilish wit to a tale of beleaguered talk show hosts trying to juggle world events with cooking segments. A truly entertaining short piece that has an undercurrent of biting satire.
