With warmth and humor, Don Baker has crafted a very touching 3-minute work that helps close a gap between siblings. Both characters, and even their unseen mother and the titular bird, are fully rendered. An absolute joy to read as it would be to see performed.

Ah, yes! What a lovely snapshot of a magical moment in time between two siblings. Donald E. Baker's "Cardinal Visitation" shows pain and healing between the two characters. I sense that the piece could be sung rather than spoken. Nicely rendered.

Two of my favorite Midwestern comforts in grief are that Cardinals are our passed loved ones and that Angels are just as sassy and opinionated as they were when we knew them. This play reminds me—as I'm sure it will so many other people—about my family. It is so personal and heartwarming. You can feel the love and connection between siblings even as they struggle with deep issues.
