On its surface, this is your classic living room play but Borders is able to bring something really unique to the genre. This play is an exploration of how people deal with grief in different ways and how our society in general handles death. Without being seen, Harry is a character in this play that looms over all that occurs. This play tackles heavy subjects but does so with a lot of humor. I hope this play gets produced all over and we get to have some hard conversations about dying and the death industry.

Rachel Borders has written a funny play about grief, loss and family dynamics. What do we do once our loved ones have gone? How do we treat each other? This family and their patriarch's slightly odd Death Doula sort it out with confusion and humor. It made me reflect on the shortness of life. And look at myself. And laugh.

A death doula? Yeah, they're real. Put them in a space with a dysfunctional family, and comedy ensues...and ensues. Borders brings her gift for comedic rhythm coupled with the tender balance of how we deal with death - not to mention the unexpected conflicts that can happen amidst such sudden happenings. Yeah, it's dark comedy. But that's the best kind of comedy in this writer's opinion, and you'd be well-served to dig into this wonderful exploration of how we close out of our lives.
