Great title, great situation! The characters in Hilary Bluestein-Lyons' short play spring to life effortlessly. And anyone who has had the experience of trying to travel in a snowstorm will be instantly on tenterhooks to see how this drama turns out. There are just enough twists and turns to keep audiences guessing, and the ending is sweet and satisfying. What a trip!

For me, this charming script is all about the intersection of a phenomenal setting and lovable characters whose relationships pop off the page! I am obsessed with the brilliant trick the playwright plays, luring us into the timeless liminality of a dated roadside diner and slowly, slowly revealing the nature of this tricksy, charming setting! The message at the center of the piece is heartwarming, leaving me with warm, fuzzy feelings...and affection for my younger self. A sneaky sci-fi delight!

Shades of William Inge's "Bus Stop" and perhaps a nod to "The Twilight Zone," Hilary Bluestein-Lyons takes us to a small-town diner and two travelers who find themselves in a place that seems eerily familiar. Ellen and Nancy and Renee and Lou are great characters for actors, and even though it's a short play, it would be a fun play to design and produce.

What a neat idea! I love how the Big Surprise of this short play is revealed a little at a time, and how once you get it, everything clicks. It's also nice that this is technically a holiday play, but a very different kind of holiday play, which would make it a wonderful palate cleaner in a holiday play-themed evening.

Warm and rich story in which the past, present and future come together for charcuterie and progress. Bluestein-Lyons takes a mug of hot chocolate of a title and delivers on its promise, and then some.
Performers and audiences alike will find much to enjoy, embrace and delight in. SNOWED IN... is an oasis from whiteout driving conditions (unsafe!) and the cold.
