Cassie Seinuk does a masterful job of leading us into the story with the illusion of a firefighter rescuing a cat from a tree, while slowing unveiling the firefighter’s true character and what is actually happening. Audiences will still be talking about this play long after the lights come up. Well done.

The comedy has the appeal of a Saturday newspaper comic and it can elicit howling laughter like a play for elementary school kids, and then near the end it becomes something else entirely, absurd even in its tradition, but devasting in its execution, which makes what came before it even more rewarding thematically. Another winning play by Seinuk, one of a kind, perfectly structured. There's more going on in this ten-minute, structurally and in respects to character, than most ten-minute plays.

Just Doing My Job Right Now is a heartfelt exploration of the complexities of motherhood, likened to a rescue mission with no clear instructions. The humor and tenderness of the firefighter's struggle with the cat create a touching reflection on instinct, care, and the challenges of parenthood.

A telling, honest glimpse into the profound confusion and loneliness of motherhood. Seinuk tells a story that we as an audience and as a society need to hear. If nothing else, read and produce this play so this lonely Mother can be heard!
