Funny from first to last, this is an absolute delight. One of the best 10-minute comedies I've encountered.

One of the funniest short plays I have read. Fred reminds me of one of the teachers at my high school. Very clever.

Getting to see this amazing play that took a writing premise and turned it into a hilarious, at-times raunchy, and ultimately meditative play that explores the lives we lead outside of certain environments, aging, and just plain silliness. Philip Middleton Williams has written a really delightful, and genuinely surprising piece that has so many plot twists and turns in such a short period. A really fun, lovely play!

Ah! Behold the magic of imagination! After decades of teaching creative writing, it figures that Fred would have the skill to whip up a wonderful tall tale on the spot, delighting audiences and his youthful coworker in tandem! I would call this piece a masterclass in writing an efficient and effective reversal at just the right moment. I LOVE a line that recontextualizes the entire play. It's a special kind of dramatic magic that is demonstrated to glorious result here! And it's hilarious, too!

I felt as surprised as Johnny as Fred's story unfolded. Mixed among the hilarity is a great underpining of social commentary.

Well ole Fred is certainly full of surprises! In this delightful comedy, a seasoned teacher on the verge of retirement puts one over on a naive younger colleague. Fred's story is howlingly funny, as is Johnny's credulity. The ending beats are most satisfying.

Philip Middleton Williams' short play had me guffawing. What a great comedy about aging and the subversion of expectations. Fred has given Johnny the greatest retirement gift of all: A mental image that will stay with him forever. This is a delightful short play.

Love this! Williams gives us a winning short that will appeal to everyone - but especially us in the “seasoned” age category. Funny and imaginative. I have to admit I, like Johnny, was had - hook, line and sinker. Great ending!

I just love how Williams gives ageism a big kick in the butt in this charming and witty play about a teacher on the brink of retirement and his younger less experienced colleague. Williams makes these characters feel so real that I felt like I was in the room with them as Fred enjoyed surprising Johnny with some info Johnny certainly did not expect. So much fun!

Love how this character's mind works. So hoping the young teacher is prone to gossip and the admin gets its just desserts and Fred gets to kick back and watch it unfold. Imagine the scandal. Teachers having to supplement their salaries is pathetic but this play certainly is not. Go Fred!
