Recommendations of From Day One

  • Mike Byham: From Day One

I saw this LOL gem at a festival recently. The audience simply loved it. This is a fun, funny piece that is relevant but doesn't sacrifice laughs for message or vice versa. The punch line works magnificently here. Read this play today, tomorrow, together.

  • Bruce Karp: From Day One

Well, this sure sounds familiar and it's an entirely possible scenario in our current political environment. Well-written, with distinctive voices for each character, this is a play for today, where every day has a new political surprise. Heaven help us! Well done and truly timely.

This is either hilarious, or tomorrow's news. I am hoping for hilarious. The last monologue would be great for comedic auditions! Each character is distinctive and very real while saying very funny, outlandish things! Add this to your evening of anti-political theatre!

  • Danielle Wirsansky: From Day One

From Day One is a sharp, witty satire of modern politics, where spectacle takes center stage over substance. Acorn Hayes cleverly explores power dynamics with humor and tension, offering an unsettling yet entertaining glimpse into political theatrics.

  • Dana Hall: From Day One

Acorn Hayes delivers a sharp, relevant satire that doesn’t just mock modern politics—it lays bare a system where spectacle trumps substance and theatrics replace true leadership. Witty, unsettling, and all too real—welcome to the block, Hayes.

We live in dark times. ACORN HAYES takes the darkness and gives it form in this short play. I look forward to reading more from this new kid on the playwriting block.

This is the first play I’ve read of this playwright. Let me be clear: it’s excellent. If you are looking for a smart piece that speaks to how many of us feel, this is the play for you. It would be perfect for any festival. Bravo! And keep writing.
