"One Woman’s Agatha Christie’s Adventure of the Christmas Pudding” is a (sort of) one-woman show that captures the chaos of trying to do it all.
The story centers on Jane, a driven writer-director-actor who takes on the task of performing an entire production solo after her cast fails to show up. Desperate to impress a potential investor, Jane juggles every character herself, pushing her abilities to the brink as she struggles with identity, control, and maintaining that Christmas cheer.
The show within a show is a Poirot mystery, brought to life with a 1920s musical theater sound and a lively array of suspected jewel thieves: a domineering matriarch, an entangled love triangle, mischievous schoolchildren, a weary cook, and, of course, the brilliant Detective Poirot.
Requiring only a piano or small band, this production is brought to life with a clever accompanist and a few daring audience members. The result is a show that entertains theater buffs, Agatha Christie enthusiasts, and festive families (with kids over ten) alike. The musical is a broad comedy grounded in an exploration of the importance of letting go.
