erase erase

Erase Erase follows Tess, a heartbroken young lesbian, who forms an unexpected and all-consuming bond with an older woman after being invited to her mansion in upstate NY. Erase Erase is a spiky, queer, darkly comedic spin on the gothic novel—think Gen-Z Jane Eyre or Daphne du Maurier’s Rebecca by way of contemporary sugar baby culture.

This play is great! I loved how dark things got in it. A deeply erotic horror comedy about friendship and what it means to be young and simply trying to get through life. I loved the way class is explored here. I loved the way queerness is looked at in such a frank way. All of these characters are deeply flawed and yet they all need each other in unique ways to survive. The final moment is haunting and I would love to see how a director makes that happen on stage.

Brilliant, funny, and alarmingly poignant. Erase Erase doesn't shy away from its darker beats, and strikes you when you least expect it. A deserving successor to the classic Gothic forms.

  • Charlie Tynan: erase erase

Erase Erase is propulsive, sharp, creepy, visceral, and deeply moving---not to mention one of the funniest plays I've seen all year. Zoe Nelms has written a brilliant thriller that is still haunting me, begging to be read again.
