Close Distance Disappearing Acts is a suspenseful and sexy 90-minute non-linear two-hander described as a cross between Dexter, When Harry Met Sally, and Gruesome Playground Injuries. The play follows two serial killers, but you know the “ethical kind,” as their paths intersect over eight years. Quirky and adorkable ANDY begins as a novice vigilante, with a desire to perfect her craft at removing “bad bad men” from the nerd convention scene, so she seeks out and hires PETER, unapologetically Irish, gym-rat and enigma, who markets his services as a “Close Distance Disappearer Trainer” on the dark web. This play can be sweet and funny as we root for the Happily Ever After promised by the RomCom genre, despite the thrill of blood, ball gags, and dissected human organs. All of this while asking the very relatable human questions about who deserves love.
