Oh my dad! What a romp! This is funny, clever, entertaining, thrilling, thoughtful... it's easier to say this gave me all the emotions. A wild ride with an ending you don't see coming (or is it the second coming?). The actor in me wants to play American Jesus. The patron in me wants to see this again and again!

The Luminaries takes a host of wild, vivid comedic topics and devices, and smoothly arranges them in the vase of a classic philosophical fissure. The directions are as entertaining as the dialogue, which will ensure Jesse gets the very best out of a cast of what would undoubtedly be very eager players.

Wow, what a ride. Clever and heartwarming. Full of amusing inversions and surprises. The comedy really helps enrich the philosophical ideas making it fun instead of dense. Some unforgettable characters. Clever all the way through. The Elephant and Blind Man were my personal favorite touch.

Dr. Diogenes Hart is a man of accomplishment, purpose, and standing; until he discovers that he has lost his astrological sign and the cosmic destiny that comes along with it. What follows is a surreal and wildly funny metaphysical quest to fill the hole in his soul left by that loss. With a cast of five playing a full ensemble of over-the-top characters, Hampsch has populated his world with the sort of residents that actors would love to play and that audiences will hold onto long after lights fade to black.

Jesse Hampsch has written a delightfully wonderful play that effortlessly tows the line between moments of hilarious jokes and thoughtful ponderings. Dr. Hart's journey of self-discovery is not only relatable to the audience, as most self-discovery journeys try to be, but it is also eccentric enough to provide an entertaining, one-of-a-kind lens that will keep audiences following along with a refreshing commentary on life, meaning, and religion.
