Recommendations of Alexander Goodkind Loses His Muse

  • Edward Gilmartin: Alexander Goodkind Loses His Muse

What happens when inspiration itself becomes a character and decides to walk away? Blending modern comedy with a touch of Greek mythology, the play explores the frustrations of creativity, ambition, and friendship in a lively and accessible way.

With colorful roles for and a contained settings, this fast-moving dialogue, the script has a strong sense of stageability, and the premise opens the door for directors and performers to lean into both the humor and the theatricality of the concept.

DAN WEST’s full-length play, “ALEXANDER GOODKIND LOSES HIS MUSE”, is a witty and wonderful story about misusing and missing opportunities and finding out that you never really understand what you have until you’ve lost it. I loved the comedy, the use of Greek mythology, and the twists and turns. This play is a real gem. I loved the storytelling, the great advice intertwined in the plot, and the humor. I highly recommend this play, and please, please, please produce it. BRAVO!

  • Liam Happe: Alexander Goodkind Loses His Muse

Alexander Goodkind Loses His Muse blends modern day America with Greek mythology with a real swagger and verve. I can imagine a number of actresses taking a look at the role of Melpomene and her dialogue in particular, and relishing the prospect. The subtle theme of how the ambitious only seem to truly notice/appreciate the honest hard-workers after they lose all of their own hope was a favourite of mine.
