←Recommendations of HIGH FIDELITY - A Ten-Minute Sci-Fi Comedy

Small town America in the 1970s is such a rich vein to tap into and "High Fidelity" certainly takes advantage of that feeling of innocence where everyone knows your name and is looking after your well being in that best of ways. Loftus plays well with the set-up and then makes you feel so much emotion about Frank and Leonard and the relationship that they have and just how fragile it has been becoming until you realize that fragility's opposing side is strength and perseverance.

This Sci-Fi Comedy takes place in a jail cell in Cleveland in 1971, but much of HIGH FIDELITY gloriously (and thankfully) takes place in the audience / reader imagination as Officer HIll describes to Frank the outrageous scene that took place the night before that landed Frank's father, Leonard, in the slammer. Donald Loftus builds on the suspense as he makes you laugh. What will Leonard have to say for himself? What's the darn black box? I love the name Planet Fidelius and it's impications.

A fast, funny three-hander with a sharp emotional core. Balances absurdist comedy with a clever sci-fi twist that reframes everything.

Officer Hill is doing his best by looking after Frank's Dad, Leonard, who has been arrested for running around naked and proclaiming he is an alien. Loftus has us convinced Leonard is crazy until a delicious twist at the end of the play.
