However, the true secret of Chris Plumridge's monologue here is that he hits ALL the right notes about what makes a best man toast legendary. Equal parts, heartfelt, cheesy, filled with plenty of inside baseball, a smattering of confounding recollections that only a handful of close friends would get, and yet somehow, universal enough for all attending to lift a glass, wink to the speaker and say, "You're so right!" Perfect!

06/22/2026 - Having been to my fair share of weddings (I went to five including my own over a three month period), I thoroughly enjoyed this piece. Laugh out loud funny and filled with kind of humor that would embarrass an unsuspecting bride and groom. Perfect for a short play festival, especially a love or wedding themed one. Excellent work!

Oh... poor Mike and Andrea... the secondary embarrassment I felt for this guy is OFF THE CHARTS! Christopher Plumridge has written a brilliant monologue for a talented comedy actor to bring to life for an audience. There are so many speech and movement possibilities to get an audience to squirm! WONDERFUL!

More like a roast than a toast, but a hilarious one to be sure! Chris, the best man, has plenty of barbs for both the groom and bride and several others as well. It’s so easy to picture the happy couple and their guests squirming in their seats. As for theater audiences, it’s easy to picture them doubled over with laughter. Cheers!
