This fascinating full length play by Sam Heyman is what happens when you take a healthy dose of Silo, add in a bit of The Stand, and wrap it all in Rashomon to come up with something unique. Heyman let's the story unfold gradually. The world-building is seamlessly built into the dialogue. There is a meaningful reveal on every page as he slowly peals the onion. In so doing, Heyman has created a compelling post-apocalyptic tale that will have you thinking about it long after it's over.

Heyman's dystopian tale could easily be a stage, film, zoom or audio production. Its structure is well crafted; its form following function with its literal layers, repetitions, shifting points of view. The topics raised are sadly all too relevant to today. It's dystopian, yes, but also about moving forward, staying grounded in the human need for creation, self-knowledge/acceptance and the love of family. Well done, playwright.

This script suffocates you, which is a compliment in this case. Sam Heyman's writing is reflective of both the claustrophobic atmosphere and the intense emotional truths of these characters. This play asks you to put yourself, when everything else is lost, in the position of confronting what you're trying to run from (both figuratively and metaphorically). Even the way the set is described puts you in a chokehold. This is a play worth seeing come to life.
