Asher Wyndham is a master of the monologue, and Zoey is further proof. This five-page monologue pokes at the double standard of dress codes, particularly in schools, while showing us how complicated it is for a teenager to hang on to their identity and simultaneously hew to seemingly arbitrary school rules. Wonderfully effective.

A smart and insightful protest against female objectification and oppression in favor of the boys. Well done.

Sharp, smart, and powerful! The piece and its protagonist! A concise yet thorough examination of the double-standard between boys’ and girls’ attire in school and how that hypocrisy pervades the world at large by way of a power structure that celebrates men while subjugating women... especially smart, confident women. If Daria Morgendorffer and Jane Lane had a love child, she would be Zoey!

Wyndham has knocked it out of the park with another great monologue that all brave girls will want to perform. I was grinning when Zoey pointed out that the principal's shirt was very inappropriate as well. Zoey is fearless and smart and never truly disrespectful, but she is mad and rightfully so. She makes good points, but unfortunately, they seem to fall on deaf ears. If you've never read one of Wyndham's monologues out loud, do so now because it is a ridiculous amount of fun. They would bring out the best in any actor. Well done, Wyndham.
