Male: 7
Any role can be played by any gender, but because the play operates within a toxic patriarchy it is important Creon, Haimon, Polynices, Eteocles, and the Soldiers be portrayed as male, however any gender can play them and in the original production female identifying people played Creon and the Soldiers. The citizens can portrayed as any gender, but were originally female identifying.
