Wow! Wyndham captures it all. This monologue is an intimate look inside a woman in crisis. (and a political world in crisis around her) It brought me to tears.

Wyndham always allows the reader to get an intimate snapshot into his character's lives from the setting itself, the part of the country they live in, and also just the situation of how they talk and act and Wanda is no different. We soon realize her treadmill is standing in for a bigger issues that she's facing, trying to outrun the domestic violence she's experiencing and also the fact that's she's pregnant from this man and is trying to carry out a decision that should be hers legally and safely in a state where they are slipping away each day.

This monologue captures all the chaotic anguish that a woman's life can be thrown into, as reproductive rights are undermined. The setting is an apt metaphor for Wanda's internal state. This piece needs to be heard now, before it's too late.

This powerful monologue gets to the heart of a woman torn by bad circumstances, difficult choices, and the lack of understanding and support she so needs. It is a roller coaster ride of emotion, both desperate and trying to remain strong, as Wanda walks the tightrope of her decision. A great piece that can move the audience to tears.

Also, although it's 2021, women still do not have equal footing with men in the workplace, in society, and at home. Wyndham makes us care for Wanda and thousands of women like her.

A powerful piece that speaks to a world that doesn't seem to get better for women in exercising their right to reproductive freedom especially when fear is driving them.
