Pridamant, an elderly man, seeks to reconnect with his estranged son with the help of the voodoo priestess Alcandre. She conjures visions of his son, now known as "Clindor", and his misadventures and love affairs.

"The Braggart of Bourbon St." tells the rowdy and uproarious story of Lyle DuTemp, a notorious liar and playboy, who returns to New Orleans after the death of his father. As chance would have it, he falls in love with the no nonsense Zelda Bradshaw, daughter of a very conservative Judge. Complications arise when Lyle wages war with his stepmother, the nefarious and deliciously vile Madame Delphine Marie St. Croix DuTemp, over whom shall inherit the vast DuTemp estate, which includes a dilapidated boarding house, home to "immigrants and idealists", next to the Bradshaw residence. "Braggart" is a wickedly wild, rambunctious, provocative American commedia which examines the traditions of Mardi Gras and the First Amendment.
