Have you ever had to give up something you LOVE?
Smoker is award-winning New York monologist Bob Brader’s new comedy about his 28-year love affair with cigarettes and how they broke up. When Bob first tries to quit, he realizes that smoking is not just a beloved habit; it’s an addiction. When Bob struggles to quit for years, he discovers that for him, the loss of his love is huge and that giving up smoking is even bigger than overcoming an addiction; it’s the challenge of breaking the cycle of his childhood abuse. In this dynamic 24-character solo comedy, Bob takes us from a strange white room in Los Angeles to the psychedelic basement of a high school druggie in his hometown of Catasauqua, PA, to below a romantic, starry night sky in Woodstock, NY. In Smoker, Bob demonstrates all the complex connections he has through smoking: how it helped him through a turbulent childhood, how it created jobs, opportunities and community, and one particular connection he never knew was too precious to let go.
