Kristin Clippard

Kristin Clippard has produced, directed, taught, administered, or acted with many theatre companies, non-profit organizations, universities, and schools across the country. Kristin holds a BFA in Acting from Wright State University and an MFA in Directing from the University of Iowa.

As a freelance director, Kristin works with both new and old plays. Favorite classic play projects include Twelfth Night for Theater at Monmouth, The Merry Wives of Windsor for Richmond Shakespeare Festival, Macbeth for Cincinnati Shakespeare Company, Dr. Faustus and She Stoops to Conquer at the University of Iowa.

She enjoys developing new works with writers and is a playwright herself. Kristin has directed many staged readings of new work and has served on selection committees for new play companies such as the Playwrights Foundation in San Francisco, PlayFest in Orlando, the Unicorn in Kansas City, the Playwrights Center in Minneapolis, and for the American Shakespeare Center in Staunton.

As an actor, Kristin has played to audiences in five states. Some favorite acting roles include Josie Hogan in Moon for the Misbegotten, Adriana in The Comedy of Errors, Jane Austen in Lady Susan, Chick Boyle in Crimes of the Heart, and Joby in Anton in Show Business. She once toured her original one-person show, Wild Child, across the country as performer, writer and producer.

As an administrator and producer, Kristin has served in various capacities. She has served as the Education Associate for the San Francisco Shakespeare Festival, and was the Associate Artistic Director at American Stage throughout the theater’s pivot from live to digital programming during the pandemic. Kristin is also the former Associate Artistic Director/Producer in Residence for Orlando Shakespeare Theater in partnership with the University of Central Florida, and a Directing Fellow at Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park.

Kristin is a member or associate of The Shakespeare Theatre Association, The Playwrights Center, The Theatre Communications Group, The National New Play Network and The Stage Directors and Choreographers Society.
