A playwright, lyricist, young adult novelist, television writer and theater/music producer, Eileen continues to wear many hats. When writing musical theater, she collaborates with her sister Gail C. Bluestone. From the stages of LINCOLN CENTER, , FEINSTEIN’S/54 BELOW, SYMPHONY SPACE, HALLMARK CARDS’ CROWN CENTER, THE BITTER END, and CARNEGIE HALL, the Bluestone Sisters’ award winning songs continue to delight audiences of all ages. The score from their Emmy Award winning musical The Odd Potato fills the radio airwaves around the world every holiday season as does their song (from the musical web series, Charmers ) “I Keep Christmas in My Pocket,” a 2017 Hollywood Music in Media Award Nominee and a 2017 Clouzine International Music Award Winner.

Eileen Bluestone Sherman (book and lyrics) and Gail C. Bluestone (music) began their musical theater collaboration at Hallmark’s Coterie Theatre in Kansas City, which soon led to the sisters contributing scripts to Chicago’s popular musical children’s television series, The Magic Door. This ultimately brought the sisters’ music to the New York stage and Broadway recording studios with a host of Tony Award Winners, including such Broadway super stars as Elaine Stritch, Sutton Foster, Hal Linden, Andrea McArdle, Donna McKechnie, Beth Leavel, Lillias White, and Judd Hirsch.

Eileen’s award winning novels for young adults include Monday in Odessa, Independence Avenue, and The Violin Players. Perhaps her most popular story is The Odd Potato, originally a picture book, adapted for stage, television, and a CD, starring 20 Tony Award Winners.

Through the years, Eileen’s work received numerous honors, including two Emmy Awards, The National Jewish Book Award and The International Reading Association’s Teacher’s Choice Award.

The Bluestone Sisters’ 2018 single, “Stand Up Proud! An Anthem 4 Freedom,” recorded by Tony and Emmy Award Winner, Lillias White, serves as the official anthem of Southern Vermont’s 4 Freedoms Festival℠. Last summer, the sisters’ musical about the legendary artist Norman Rockwell (starring an all Broadway cast and directed by 4 time Tony Award Nominee, Randy Skinner) was the featured event at the Festival.

Eileen Sherman and award winning Americana roots singer-songwriter, Grant Smith, are the co-founders of the international music organization, The Indie Collaborative, whose mission is to foster new and unique collaborations among music professionals worldwide. Maxie Smith, an aging Broadway star, is now best known as the voice of a television cartoon frog named Freida Freihopper. The job pays the bills, but Maxie wants to get back on Broadway. According to her lifelong agent and best friend, Mona Harper, not many offers exist for an aging actress, until, ironically, her television producer wants to invest in a new Broadway property that stars “an older actress.” Sid insists that Maxie plays the part. Meanwhile, Maxie’s grown daughter, Savannah, a California architect, who is starting to make a name for herself, makes a surprise visit to NYC. She has recently adopted a seven year-old daughter named Honey. Maxie and Savannah’s relationship has always been strained because of Maxie’s demanding career, which from Savannah’s point of view, did not leave much time for mother/daughter bonding. Their relationship especially “soured” after Maxie’s loving husband and Savannah’s devoted dad, Charlie, suddenly died. However, Savannah, is now ready to give her mother a “second chance.” She hopes her mother will take care of Honey for a couple of weeks while she sets up her new apartment in London for a year-long work assignment. Maxie is thrilled to accommodate until Savannah stipulates that Maxie cannot be working when her granddaughter visits. Unfortunately, the Broadway show is set to go into rehearsal during those specific two weeks. Once more, Maxie is faced with the unsolvable problem of earning her daughter's love and trust while fulfilling her own professional ambitions. The clock is ticking! There could be no more second chances on stage or with Savannah.
