Three Bad Things is a dark comedy about a six-person wedding party marooned on an idyllic tropical island that gets hit by a tornado and a bridesmaid’s secret past that may just change the course of history.

When maid-of-honor Fiona sets off to a tropical island for her best friend’s destination wedding, she expected the usual flurry of nonrefundable airfare, wardrobe malfunctions, and cringy toasts. But she hadn’t counted on a series of revelations threatening to derail a supreme court nomination, a tornado knocking over the cake, and at least one other bad thing putting the island, and the wedding in mor(t)al danger.

Rounding out the bridal party are reclusive feminist writer Jade, and blue-blooded sister-of-the-bride Sarah. On the groom’s side are fraternity brothers Wheels, Tripp, and Squid. One is about to adopt a baby with his inside-the-Beltway husband; one is just getting over a painful divorce; and the other is a self-described ladies’ man — a Sig Omega brother, through and through.

Three bad Things explores the line between loyalties and politics, family and duty, and decorum and mayhem.

LIBERAL ART is a wry comedy set in a picture perfect, but struggling, liberal arts college and the New York art world. The story opens on Miranda, a stay-at-home mother turned art dealer facing the realities of running her gallery, maintaining appearances, and paying her daughter Lily’s tuition. At the same time, Jones, the president of Paxson College is facing the financial realities of running an elite college, maintaining appearances, and making sure parents like Miranda keep writing tuition checks.

The scenes alternate between Miranda’s Upper West Side apartment and a dark-paneled faculty meeting room at Paxson college. In Miranda’s kitchen, family discussions center around class, image, and family acceptance when Lily brings home her girlfriend, Ana. In the Paxson College committee room, long-tenured professors with 1960’s ideals clash with a younger marketing consultant. As the college debates selling part of its beloved art collection to stay solvent, we learn that Miranda has been stealing those same valuable works of art from the college and using the proceeds to maintain the façade of her lifestyle.

The play draws parallels between Miranda’s experience as a middle-aged woman and Paxson College as both struggle to maintain relevance in a world that increasingly views them as obsolete. Can art ultimately save them all?
