Primarily a theater director, Juliette Carrillo has been a secret playwright most of her life. Since declaring herself publicly as a writer, she has written four commissioned plays for Cornerstone Theater Company: Plumas Negras performed for and with the East Salinas farmworker community, Little Voice, about food and eating for teens, Ghost Town performed for and with the Venice, CA community and Pedro Play for the San Pedro, CA community. A revised, small cast version of Plumas Negras was a Nuestras Voces finalist for Repertory Español, and performed as a reading at the NYC theater as well as a part of Encuentro 2014 at the Los Angeles Theater Center and is being performed at universities nationwide. . She is in development with her newest screenplay, San Ignacio Project (working title), scheduled for shooting Spring of 2027/

A graduate of the Yale School of Drama, Juliette has directed critically-acclaimed productions across the country, including premieres and classics at theaters such as Oregon Shakespeare Festival, Seattle Repertory Theater, Denver Theater Center, Yale Repertory Theatre, the Mark Taper Forum, South Coast Repertory, Magic Theatre, Alliance Theatre, Arizona Theater Company and Actor’s Theatre of Louisville. She is known for developing new plays (with such writers as Octavio Solis, Karen Zacarias and Luis Alfaro, amongst others) and has directed numerous workshops in regional as well NYC theatres such as The Public, New York Theatre Workshop, INTAR and The Women’s Project.
