Vanessa Bates

Vanessa Bates is an award-winning Australian playwright. In 2014 she was Director of the Playwrights Festival for NSW Writers Centre.
Her plays include: Chipper, Every Second, The Magic Hour, Porn.Cake , Checklist for an Armed Robber and Darling Oscar as well as monologues and short plays for several multi-playwright shows. Her work has been produced by most Australian companies. Vanessa won a 2012 NSW Premiers Literary Award for Porn. Cake. Chipper was shortlisted for the 2014 Patrick White Award and the 2013 Griffin Award.
In June and July 2014, The Magic Hour is touring Australia and new play Every Second is premiering at Sydney’s Eternity Theatre. Every Second was selected for showcase at the 2012 National New Play Network festival in Washington DC. Previously it won the Inscriptions...
