But when Mr. Hitchens suddenly disappears under mysterious circumstances, his students are left to reckon with his role in a 20-year-old sexual assault case. As both a high schooler in 2015 and a playwright in present day, Ruby grapples with how to tell a story she still doesn’t understand.
