Chris Woodworth, based in the Finger Lakes region of New York, writes plays of archival topography, weaving together historical artifacts with the distinct contours of rural landscapes. Several of her 10-minute plays have been fully produced including Slice of Life (Juicebox Organic International One Act Competition, Westfield, NY), The Last Bee (Alleyway Theatre’s Buffalo Quickies #32, Buffalo, NY), and Something Blue (Stage It! 10-Minute Play Festival, selected for both publication and a world premiere production). Her (very, very short) plays have been produced as part of the One-Minute Play Festival at the Kitchen Theatre (Ithaca, NY). Her full-length play Fossenvue has received staged readings at Caywood Point / Fossenvue (USDA Forest Service), Women's Rights National Historical Park, Three Bears Historic Courthouse, Geneva Public Library / Zonta Club of Geneva, and Historic Geneva. She was selected as the “Write Here” playwright for the Syracuse Stage Cold Read Festival in March 2022 for Fossenvue (unfortunately canceled due to Covid). Other full-length plays that have received staged readings include We Are the Volcano (Rochester Community Players) and Medea Kills Her Children (ArtsX at Bowling Green State University in Ohio). Several of her 10-minute plays have received public readings including Slice of Life (Geneva Theatre Guild, Wayne County Writers Guild), Sure. (LMC Productions; Barrow Group’s First Friday), Moving On (LMC Productions), What to Expect (LMC Productions; Geneva Theatre Guild), and All That Remains (Fisher Center for the Study of Gender and Culture). All That Remains was a semi-finalist for the PAC New Venture Short Play Festival and Moving On was a finalist for the Off-Broad Street Short Play Festival. She has received four Individual Artist Grants (Statewide Community Regrants—New York State) to develop her plays (Chicory, We Are the Volcano, Medea Kills Her Children, and Fossenvue).
