Wesley is smart: real smart. She loves to learn, and exceling in school comes easily to her. And so her brain is her best friend (don’t tell that to her other best friends, Cameron and Parker). She loves her brain so much that she’s determined to become a professor of neuroscience, which is the study of the brain, don’t you know. She takes learning very seriously, unlike Cameron, who only ever wants to dance, and Parker, who keeps asking Wesley if she’s definitely going to Cameron’s birthday party this weekend.
But when her teacher Mr. Snook says that there will be a lockdown drill the next day, suddenly Wesley and her brain start feeling a little… strange. In a way she can’t really explain or understand. And when her parents argue that night (they’re doing a lot of that lately), when Papa is trying to explain how the world keeps getting hotter (so hot that things go on fire?), Wesley and her brain can’t sleep. Her brain either feels like it’s talking too much or not enough: sometimes he’s full of opinions, and other times he’s empty; and other parts of her body start feeling weird, too. WHAT'S GOING ON?
