Julie-Anne (she/her) is a queer Boston-based playwright and dramaturg. Her one-act plays include LITTLE GIRL BLUE (semi-finalist, Theatre Viscera's Queer Playwriting Contest; nominee, Open Meadows Foundation Nancy Dean Lesbian Playwriting Contest; reading, Lesley University), A PART OF ME, and two works about literary giant, Virginia Woolf (A PRESSURE OF RAPTURE and A PRECIPICE MARKED V). Julie-Anne is also a member of the Literary Managers and Dramaturgs of America. She was a dramaturg for Company One Theatre's 2022-2023 Volt Play Lab. Her production dramaturgy credits include THE BOOK OF WILL, INTO THE BREECHES (HUB Theatre Company), MACHINAL (Boston Conservatory at Berklee), and THE HALF-LIFE OF MARIE CURIE (The Nora/Central Square Theater). Her new work dramaturgy credits include UNTITLED by Gayane Kaligian, GAS LIGHT THERAPY by Pattie Lynn, A LIGHT UNDER THE DOME by Patrick Gabridge, and PAUSE/PLAY/STOP by Cassie Seinuk.
She has an M.F.A. in Creative Writing (Writing for the Stage and Screen) from Lesley University where she presented her thesis, “Wounds are Not a Weakness: An Exploration of Queer Female Characters and Their Experiences with Trauma, Family, and Identity” as well as an original seminar, “Writing Trauma: How Playwrights Use Traumatic Events As A Tool For Powerful Storytelling.”
