Steve Nordmark

Steve Nordmark is a founding member of the Telling Humans Playwright Studio. He is also a network playwright with Chicago Dramatists. His recent works include the two-act comedy "Course Society," and one-act plays such as "Ye Olde American Egg" and "The Pompous Playwright." His short comedies, "Are You Sure?", “What’s Ninety For?”, and "Why Are You Angry?" were recently produced by Yellow Rose Theatre in Chicago. Steve is a former board member of Invictus Theatre Chicago and enjoys producing staged readings for his fellow playwrights.

Synopsis

Henry Redhawk dreams of joining the prestigious Redwood Course Society of Golf, a club so exclusive it has no members left. Henry embarks on a hilariously complicated search for a sponsor in country club society where he ends up getting mixed up in a retiree’s screwball scheme to fake death to play more golf. Coming out of this comedic maelstrom Henry finally finds the right person to sponsor his acceptance.

A story of America 100 years ago. A country without internet, without computers, without television. It turns out none of these are required to feed the American notion of rising up in the world. The narrator recounts his childhood growing up in failing businesses of restaurants and chicken farming. The narrator attempts to use this play to go back and and change the family destiny.
