Three Korean-American siblings are grappling with their identity and their strained relationships when the dmz falls through their parents’ dining table, sending them on a surreal journey through their divided motherland. As their stories unfold simultaneously, they’re forced to take sides that aren’t as good or bad as they had believed. And even though they want to put their home back together, maybe the losses are just too great. Belligerency is a play about the battlegrounds where wars are waged and what happens to the people caught in the crossfire.

Garrett has complicated feelings about his Catholic upbringing, as a queer person, as an AAPI person, and as a person whose existence in America depended on an ancestor sneaking out of Korea using a Bible. He’s tried to write a play (with music) by himself that’s like, a new version of mass, but his family has other plans.

Three has this insatiable hunger. The generations who came before him try to help, heaping more and more onto his plate, until he's completely overcome by the history he wants to understand. He wants to know who they were, so he can know who he is. But he might not be ready to stomach that the connection to his heritage that he craves is what his ancestors had to leave behind when they came to the USA. Kim's Fine Food is a play about family, what we choose to hand down from generation to generation, and what we're eating for dinner.
