Anita Montgomery

Anita Montgomery, director, dramaturg, theatre worker has served on the artistic staff at ACT for the last twelve years. Currently serving as both Literary Manager and Director of Education, she created, administrates and teaches for ACT's seminal education offering, the Young Playwrights Program (YPP). As Literary Manager, Anita oversees ACT's new play development programming, including commissions, and ACT's New Play Award and Playwrights Circle, as well as ACT's partnerships with Hedgebrook Women Playwrights Festival and The Icicle Creek Theatre Festival. Anita teaches Dramaturgy for Directors at the University of Washington and has had the pleasure of serving as director and/or dramaturg on new plays by Yussef El Guindi, Laura Schellhardt, Lisa Dillman, Emily Schwend, Julie Marie...

She has directed in Seattle for ACT, Book-it, Cornish College of the Arts, Theater Schmeater and The Seattle Public Theater. Favorite directing credits include the world premiere of Yussef El Guindi's PILGRIMS MUSA AND SHERI IN THE NEW WORLD and RAPTURE BLISTER BURN by Gina Gionfriddo, both at ACT, and WHO'S AFRAID OF VIRGINIA WOLF at the Pendragon Theatre Company. Anita is proud mom to Hazel (14) and Gabe (7).
