Jordan Ratliff

Jordan is a director/playwright and recent graduate from the the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign where he received his BFA in Theatre Studies with a concentration in playwriting and directing. In his work, he pushes to share the voices of underrepresented groups, and advocates for their representation on and off stage. Some of his writing credits include Fugitives In America, and Love Life. Some of his directorial credits include One In Two (Pride Arts), Gay Card (UIUC), Love Life (New Revels Players), Prospect High: Brooklyn (Armory Free Theater), and Songs For A New World (Allen Hall Theatre Bums). He has also assistant directed several productions, most recently Gay Card (dir. Jay Espano).

Love sucks. Love can also be beautiful. How does love impact our day to day lives? How does sex impact someone’s love life? How do other people’s love lives impact our lives? These questions will be explored and contemplated throughout this show. I hope to open a conversation about a very personal part of people’s lives that people tend to shy away from discussing. Themes like sexual assault, infidelity, divorce...

These questions will be explored and contemplated throughout this show. I hope to open a conversation about a very personal part of people’s lives that people tend to shy away from discussing. Themes like sexual assault, infidelity, divorce, and many others are often not talked about, and I feel that it’s important to start the conversation. People’s love lives are so often a sensitive subject that it can often leave people feeling alone. I hope that this show will open the conversation and help to deconstruct the taboo of discussing love.
