I'm a director and playwright from Norfolk, Virginia. I hold a Master of Fine Arts in Acting from the University of Georgia. My primary background is in Performance, Solo Performance Development, Activist Theatre, Devised Theatre, and Cultural Enrichment for Community Engagement.

My catalog of plays, projects, and workshops explore the adverse effects of vicarious trauma in social media on the personal psyche. Specific topics explored, but not limited to, are Racial Injustice, Mental Health Awareness, Gender Equality, and Domestic Violence Awareness.

My work has featured at several national interdisciplinary conferences and fringe festivals, including the Association for Theatre in Higher Education Conference (ATHE), Mid-America Theatre Conference (MATC), Women’s Theatre Fringe Festival of NC, and Black Theatre Network.

As of 2024, I’m an Assistant Professor of Applied Theatre and Community-Engaged Theatre at Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University.

Synopsis

How to Tie a Tie, centers around middle-aged interracial couple Charles and Grace Walker as they are preparing for their child's marriage to someone of the same sex. With considerable time constraints and conflicting views, Grace tries to get Charles to attend the wedding although his own “traditional beliefs” questions the holiness of their child’s union. Will they make it to their child's wedding?

Ami Wallace, an aspiring author who is highly sophisticated but overly anxious, enters. Despite their generational gap of almost two decades, the two women, who seem to have nothing in common, discover something during their interview...
